sports injury

Sports are a good way to stay active & get good exercise all while having fun! We encourage people of all ages to try to get outside & play sports whenever possible. Unfortunately, sometimes accidents happen especially in contact sports where there is a higher chance of getting injured. AFC Urgent Care Stamford is here to patch you up & make sure you’re ready to get back out on the field as soon as possible.

Stitches

Some sports require players to wear sharp objects such as cleats, pads, helmets or use hard objects such as bats, balls, ext. These objects may cause bodily harm to players in the game. Blunt force trauma to the skin can cause it to break & bleed. If you feel you may need stitches come see one of our physicians who will give you the following assessment:

  • Clean your wounds
  • Measure the wound & check how deep the cut is
  • If necessary, our physician will then administer the stitches.

X-Ray

Broken bones & fractures are something you should always take seriously. If you believe you may have a break or a fracture please come in as soon as possible. Certain types of break we treat are:

  • Fractures (hairline, Oblique)
  • Breaks in minor parts of the body
  • toes
  • fingers
  • feet
  • hands

Recovery time on the breaks/fractures depends on how severe the break is. Our physicians here at AFC Urgent Care Stamford will give you a plan to follow in the weeks/months ahead of you to make sure that you are on the fastest road to recovery!
