Every year, AFC Urgent Care Stamford provides the most recent flu vaccination at our center. The flu strands change every year which requires there to be a yearly vaccine. The CDC strongly encourages seniors over the age of 65, children, and pregnant women receive the shot every year. The flu vaccine is entirely safe and approved by the FDA and despite the rumors, you cannot contract the flu from the vaccine.
Flu season is usually between the months of October and can last until May, with peak time being the month of January. Next time the flu season comes around, be sure to stop by AFC Urgent Care Stamford.
Are there any restrictions as to who can’t receive an annual flu vaccination?
- Yes. Children who are younger than 6 months old are too young to receive the shot. If you are also allergic to any type of ingredient used in a flu shot, it is important that you learn the ingredients of a flu shot and ask your doctor for alternatives.
AFC Urgent Care offers the flu shot to all walk-ins. Appointments are never required. Most health insurance plans do cover the cost of the shot but if not, we offer affordable self-pay options.
